SPACEweek 2024 is May 6 – 10
The third annual SPACEweek will occur during the first week of May, from Monday, May 6 – Friday, May 10. The SPACEweek showcase will take place in 3C.1 (with some activities in 5B.16) and will feature work by students from across the arts and sciences who participated in SPACE in 2023-24. It will include displays, demonstrations, interactive activities, student talks and presentations, readings, and competitions. Robotics demonstrations and presentations will be held throughout the week.
Visitors can come have fun and interact all week long in multiple ways, such as by creating written and visual reflections of their experience of the total solar eclipse as part of a larger eclipse exhibit; playing video games made by Journeys students as well as a lively video game developed as part of a competition that teaches the fundamentals of electricity; designing and making their own SPACEweek buttons; creating interactive displays using pre-generated or ChatGPT code; and casting their vote for the people’s choice award for the ScienceFest/SPACE 2024 photo contest.
On Wednesday, May 8 we invite all to a reading by the winners and honourable mentions of the sixth annual SPACE writing contest as well as to live performances of songs created from the ChatGPT Song Writing Contest.
Highlights from Friday will include a session of student talks and Arduino sensor project demonstrations followed by a hackathon with mobile robot navigation challenge races late afternoon.
Most of the activities will take place in 3C.1, except for the reading, the ChatGPT song writing contest and ScienceFest talks. Stay tuned for the final schedule!
