New gift-wrapped partnership with Alexis-Nihon
For years, the Alexis-Nihon shopping centre across the street has been like a second home to the Dawson community – from dashing over (through the tunnel in bad weather) for lunch to getting groceries or doing a little shopping.
Dawson will see an extension of its relationship with Alexis-Nihon this holiday season when all proceeds from the gift-wrapping service will go to Dawson’s sustainability projects.
The College’s efforts to eliminate its carbon footprint have been noticed by the administration of Alexis-Nihon. They were so impressed they wanted to give Dawson a chance to grow its support for these community-building projects spearheaded by the Sustainability Office and Living Campus.
Starting on Monday, Dec. 6 and up to Dec. 24, in a store next to the food court on the third floor, shoppers can have their gifts wrapped by volunteers for a small amount between $2 and $10, depending on the size of the package. Donations are also accepted.
More information will be forthcoming by the end of next week for those Dawson community members who would like to volunteer. Anyone who likes to wrap gifts, work with the public as a greeter or is good at taking payment or making change are invited to volunteer.
Friends, family, neighbours and students, especially those who would like to build on their bank of charitable hours for their Recognition of Student Involvement notation, are most welcome to join the wrapping squad as part of this fun and supportive activity.
