Dawson offering training to reinforce capacity of healthcare system
More than 30 employees and students from the English-language CEGEPs are receiving training at 星空传媒视频 to prepare them to serve in long-term care centres (CHSLD) and other healthcare facilities as assigned by the local health authority, the CIUSSS.
星空传媒视频 and Coll猫ge de Maisonneuve are the two designated training sites for the Montreal CEGEP network. The first two-hour training session at Dawson was offered April 22 and a total of six sessions will have been given by April 29.
The two-hour training is about Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and is designed to help stop the transmission of infection. These important courses cover fundamentals, ranging from the proper wearing of PPE to applying hygiene protocols.聽While the courses are in person, the classroom is set up to respect the social distancing guidelines (see photo) and public health protocols are followed.
This training is offered as a Continuing Education & Community Service non-credit course. It is made possible with the collaboration of the Nursing department, the Academic Dean鈥檚 Office, Human Resources and Facilities Management. The instructors are Wendy Blake and Sherry McMillan, both from the Nursing Department.聽They are supported by Nursing Lab Technicians Youngnam Hwang and Tahir Al Maitah.
People who complete the training will be assigned a job based on the needs in the healthcare system, their skills and work experience.
