Samuel Vall茅ry Saint-Hilaire is new Director of Facilities Management

After serving as Interim Director of Facilities Management from Dec. 15, 2023, Samuel Vall茅ry Saint-Hilaire was selected as the new Director of Facilities Management. His new role officially began Feb. 8.

Samuel began working at Dawson in October 2022 as Coordinator, Renovations and Infrastructure. Prior to Dawson, Samuel worked as a project manager at Bombardier for more than a decade and in the pharmaceutical/nutraceutical packaging industry. He also worked as a director at Effenco Development, a company that overhauls fleets of commercial diesel vehicles to incorporate hybrid technology.

Samuel holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering and a master鈥檚 in heat transfer. While volunteering at a heritage church restoration project as director of building management, Samuel discovered his passion at work and decided to focus on construction and renovation.

In fact, this particular church was built in the same decade that the Congregation de Notre-Dame sisters built Dawson. As a result, Samuel is quite familiar with the challenges of a heritage property.

Apart from work, Samuel enjoys staying healthy and is a cross-fit coach. You may run into him at the Dawson gym.

Samuel is delighted to work at Dawson with the Facilities Management team and is motivated to improve the physical environment for the benefit of the Dawson community.

Max Jones is new Director of Student Services

Max Jones will succeed Monique Magnan as Director of Student Services on March 1.

Max knows Dawson very well having started at the College in 2012 serving in a variety of roles over that time. Max has worked in support staff roles in Human Resources, the Office of Academic Development and Academic Administration. Early on in his time at Dawson, he also taught English as a second language.

Since 2017, Max has been in various management positions including Associate Dean of both Social Science and Business Technologies, and Science, Medical Studies and Engineering (SMSE). Currently, Max is Dean of SMSE.

Max holds a B.A. (Honours) in English Language and Literature from Bishop鈥檚 University as well as a Graduate Diploma in Communication and Media Studies and a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Public Administration, both from Concordia University.

Pierre Lefebvre is new Coordinator of Auxiliary Services

Pierre Lefebvre joined Dawson Feb. 12 as the new Coordinator of Auxiliary Services. He is responsible for several departments: the Bookstore, the Print Shop, Security, Parking, P.A.R.C. (Physical Education and Recreational Centre), and, last but not least, Purchasing.

鈥淧ierre is a great asset to the department,鈥� said Samuel V. Saint-Hilaire, Director of Facilities Management. 鈥淒uring our brainstorming sessions, Pierre contributes by sharing his experience and suggesting proven solutions. We are all eager to learn more from Pierre and to collaborate with him. Welcome, Pierre!鈥�

Pierre has nearly 35 years of management experience in various sectors. A member of the Ordre des Administrateurs Agr茅es du Qu茅bec, he holds a number of national certifications and a Canadian Armed Forces Naval Officer's Certificate. Over the years, he has received various civilian and military awards, including the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation and the Queen's Medal for Volunteers. He is a member of the Venerable Order of St. John.

Over the course of his career, Pierre has held various management positions in educational institutions such as Coll猫ge de Maisonneuve, C茅gep du Vieux-Montr茅al and the Universit茅 de Sherbrooke Longueuil campus, as well as in the healthcare network and in the private and municipal sectors. He also specializes in the organization of ceremonial events.

He is very involved in his community and with young people, serving on boards of directors and lecturing on military and naval history. An artist at heart, his hobbies include painting and making architectural and ship models.
