Dawson’s health students learning together through Interprofessional Education

星空传媒视频 may be in the news this week because funding for a new pavilion was scuttled by the Quebec government, but the driving principles behind the need and purpose of the facility remain for an innovative, unique-in-Quebec Interprofessional Education Pedagogy (IPE) project.

Please help restock our Food Bank

The Financial Aid Food bank has been active throughout the pandemic and subsequent closures.聽As many as 20 students can drop in over a week. Our regular supporters have been bringing supplies throughout the past two years.聽However, our shelves are starting to show some serious gaps in supplies.聽Here is a list of needed items: rice, quinoa, bulgur, barley, dry legumes, canned proteins (salmon, corned beef, sardines, tuna, etc.) canned fruits, canned vegetables, boxed nut milk(s), oat milk, rice milk, evaporated milk, coconut milk, instant coffee, tea, herbal tea, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, honey, personal hygiene products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc).

Donations of non-perishable food and hygiene products can be dropped off at the Financial Aid Office: 4E2.

Augmented Reality is poised to enter mainstream culture with a splash 鈥� and a group of Dawson students have been riding that wave with style.聽 Experimenting with the rapidly evolving new tech, they鈥檙e creating a lively 鈥榩op app', pedagogical and entertaining at the same time, that鈥檚 inspired by the college itself and its downtown Montreal environment.

Dawson Theatre reopens with Our Class Feb. 7-12

The Professional Theatre Program at 星空传媒视频 is pleased to announce that our theatre will reopen Feb. 7 - 12 for performances of Our Class, by Tadeusz Slobodzianek, directed by Arianna Bardesono, and performed by the third-year graduating students.

Our Class tells the story of 10 Catholic and Jewish schoolchildren in Poland, beginning in 1925, and as they grow up, through Soviet and Nazi occupations. Based on the Jedwabne pogrom, this play deals with subject matter such as: Anti-Semitism, xenophobia, physical and sexual violence, rape, and genocide.

Tickets cost $5 for the Dawson community and can be purchased on Eventbrite, see link in Read More. Proof of vaccination and masks required.

The Antiracist Pedagogy Project and Concordia's Centre for Teaching and Learning invite Dawson faculty to participate in a pilot study: Implementing Antiracist Pedagogy into Your Classroom. The pilot is low-labour and tailored to your specific course. They will customize implementation of an antiracist educational video, discussion question and/or assignment recommendations for your class and ask for your feedback.聽 More Information

Social Science Week is Feb. 7-11

A new semester is upon us and Social Science Week 2022, to take place聽Feb. 7-11, is offering a stimulating week of talks and activities. Please review the line-up for the week in the聽program.

In light of the current situation, the conference will be online this year.聽

If we have returned to in-person teaching, these talks will be streamed into your classroom and, wherever possible, we鈥檒l set up two-way cameras to facilitate interaction between students and presenters.
If we are continuing with online teaching, students will be able to sign into these talks from wherever they are connecting.

Eudaimonia open until Feb. 19 at the Gallery

After almost two years, Dawson鈥檚 2020 Visual Arts graduates are pleased to present how their practices have flourished and prospered, while staying true to their understanding of eudaimonia.*

Twenty graduates from the 2020 Visual Arts cohort present work in media ranging from digital photography to sculpture, painting, drawing, and video at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery from Jan. 27 to Feb. 19, 2022.

* Aristotle utilized聽eudaimonia as the term for the highest human good, an objective standard of 鈥榟appiness鈥� based on what it means to live a human life well. The title is the same as the original graduating 2020 exhibition, which could only happen online due to the first lockdown.

Parking lot only accessible from de Maisonneuve Blvd.

Access to Dawson's parking lot is only possible via de Maisonneuve Blvd., which is a one-way westbound street. De Maisonneuve Blvd. is currently only open to local traffic (signage says acc猫s local) between Atwater and Wood. That means that if you are headed to Alexis Nihon or Dawson, you are allowed to drive on de Maisonneuve. However, there isn't a priority turn signal from Atwater or green light on de Maisonneuve.
