Dawson student stars in Rustic Oracle

Cinema | Communications student McKenzie Deer Robinson had been interested in acting since she was a kid.

鈥淚 was always too shy,鈥� she recalled in an interview with the Communications Office. When she was 16 years old, her mother noticed a call for auditions at the local bank in Kahnawake. 鈥淲e both thought that maybe this would be my opportunity to try it,鈥� she said.

Peer mentor program continues to support new students

In September of 2020, Dawson鈥檚 COVID-19 Steering Committee approved the creation of a student peer mentoring initiative. The plan was to assemble and train a team of second- and third-year students who would mentor new students adjusting to the remote learning environment.

Focusing on Indigenous climate action and pursuits of justice leads us to re-imagine how we conceive of, envision, and tackle the climate crisis. Recommended video and media coverage of FPPSE storytelling project

was filmed and directed by Kanerahtens Bush. Kanerahtens is a former Dawson Journeys student and played on the Dawson Blues Lacrosse team. He made the film during a听First Peoples鈥� Post-Secondary Storytelling Exchange (FPPSE) project听 film workshop to show what his commute looks like from a corner of Kahnawake into 星空传媒视频. The film workshop was held at Dawson and the Kahnawake Library in collaboration with Our World.

听His film has been shown at education events and festivals including ImagiNATIVE.

Professional Theatre presents Harper Reagan

"If you go, I don't think you should come back."

On a startlingly bright autumn night in 2006, Harper Regan walked away from her home, her husband and daughter, and kept walking. She told nobody that she was going. She told nobody where she was going. She put everything she ever built at risk. For two lost days and nights, until it looked as though her entire life might unravel, she didn't turn back. From Uxbridge to Stockport to Manchester and back again, Harper Regan navigates the UK, exploring family, love and delusion.

Second-year students of the Professional Theatre Department perform in Harper Regan. The show will be livestreamed March 10 - 13 at 8 p.m.

Senate documents available

Senate documents for the upcoming meeting on March 16 are now available on SharePoint.

To access the documents, employees must log onto SharePoint through the My Dawson Portal (Omnivox) and then select Governance, Dawson Senate. Under 鈥淢eeting Documents,鈥� select the current year to view the list of meetings and their associated documents. Likewise, to view the schedule of meetings, under 鈥淢eeting Schedule,鈥� select the current year.

Readers must bear in mind that most of the documents that are considered by the Senate are in draft form. Program revision and development documents as well as institutional policies such as ISEP and IPEP are not final until they have been approved by the Board of Governors.

In solidarity with women for IWD

On March 8, International Women's Day was marked around the world.

At 星空传媒视频, the day is usually celebrated with special gatherings, sales to raise funds for women's causes and more. Yesterday, the Association of Dawson Professionals (ADP) and the Dawson Support Staff Union (DSSU) made donations. In honour of IWD, the ADP gave a donation to the Native Women's Shelter of Montreal and the DSSU made a donation to Chez Doris.

The Dawson Teachers Union, the ADP and the DSSU invited members to use a special Zoom background to show support for women in the community.

Well-being for all

World of Images Intercollegiate Photo Contest: enter by March 10

The CCDMD鈥檚 tenth World of Images Intercollegiate Photo Contest is open to students and all employees of the CEGEP network. Since 2012, more than 15,000 photographs have been submitted by more than 2,700 CEGEP students.

For this 10th edition, $3,000 in grants will be awarded.听Files must be uploaded in maximum resolution and submitted for approval directly through the World of Images website by March 10, 2021. Each participant can submit up to 10 photographs. The results will be announced in April 2021.
