For the past two weeks, many teachers have become students learning all about online teaching platforms. They have also been working hard to adapt course outlines and figure out how to present their material online while maintaining academic integrity and continuing to engage their students.

Jonathon Sumner (Physics) started working on a live interactive graph project with the idea of showing the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in different parts of the world, while normalizing for population size, as well as showing the impact of interventions like physical distancing.

On Monday, March 30, the Board of Governors held a special meeting to address one topic: the College鈥檚 response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The purpose of the meeting was to pass a motion to allow the Director General and Academic Dean to make timely decisions in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Psychology teacher Selma Hamdani has arranged a unique opportunity for students and employees to ask anything about COVID-19 to infectious disease specialist Dr. Guillaume Butler-Laporte. The session will take place Wednesday, April 1 at 1 p.m.

49% of Canadians are on the verge of insolvency, according to a survey published in The Financial Post on March 30. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic reaches its peak in Montreal, it is already having a major financial impact on young people and families.
Dawson鈥檚 Financial Aid Office is anticipating a major surge in demand when students return to the College.
We are calling on our community to consider making a donation to the Financial Aid Fund, managed by the 星空传媒视频 Foundation. Your donation will build the capacity of the College to respond to requests for food and emergency relief for our students.

Here are some useful resources recommended by our Student Health team:
Chris Adam (Sustainability) reports that there are 77 people signed up for plant care, feeding fish or taking care of vermi-composts. Some of these individuals represent entire areas, like the library, and others are individual offices.
"The first week we actually counted 379 plants and then the second wave of emails came in. I would estimate that we are watering approximately 450 plants now. This takes a day to do," writes Chris.

Convocation, which was to be held on June 23, 2020 at Place des Arts, has been postponed. Parents, students, teachers and staff alike look forward to this community event that packs the Th茅芒tre Maisonneuve space with upwards of 2,900 people over two ceremonies.
We want to acknowledge the hard work and perseverance of our students. We will be looking into alternative ways to celebrate our graduates and their achievements in the near future.
