First Aid tips

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ trained another cohort in First Aid in the Workplace last week. About 45 employees are now certified as First Aiders after two days of First Aid in the Workplace training. Last semester, about 40 students were also trained in basic First Aid.

The first responders on campus are always the Security team. They can help a speedy response by directing emergency personnel on site.

When at Dawson, do not call 911. Call the Security Desk at ext. 1000. There is always someone on duty 24 hours/day.

There are some great tips from the program that we can all keep in mind:

  • Never move the victim unless in danger
  • Never feed the victim
  • Whatever is inside (impaled), leave it in
  • Whatever has come out, leave outside the body
  • Whatever is normally dry, cover with a dry bandage
  • Whatever is naturally wet, cover with a wet bandage.

D News name participation prize

Better late than never! We finally have a winner drawn from all who participated in our new newsletter name survey or suggested a name last semester.

Derek Gaucher,ÌýCoordinator of IT Solutions (Systems and Programming), gets the credit for suggesting the name that was retained for our employee newsletter. D News is perfect because the letter D is used as shorthand for Dawson with our D logo and the newsletter is meant to present the College news in short little pieces.

We entered all the names of employees who participated in naming the newsletter into an online random name picker. Dipti Gupta, Profile Coordinator of Cinema-Communications, was selected as the winner. She won a $50 gift card. Thank you to all who participated!Ìý And thank you to all who continue to make D News your news by contributing content and giving feedback.
