Did you know that it takes 12 female honey bees to travel 1249 kilometers together to produce 1 teaspoon of HONEY? Let鈥檚 get moving like the bees with 12 weekly wellness activities over 4 weeks including 9 live activities to connect and engage with the community!
Dawson鈥檚 Sustainability Office and Human Resources, with contributions from departments and services across the college, are excited to offer 4 weeks of wellness activities to all Dawson Employees!
- February 15-March 12, 2021.
- Activities hosted mostly by Dawson鈥檚 very own Faculty, Staff and Retirees!
- Weekly Participation Prizes will be raffled 1249 swag, Dawson鈥檚 rooftop honey, gift cards to local shops and more!

Student Wellness Challenge begins Feb. 15

A Wellness Challenge for Students is being launched Feb. 15
Student Services, Sustainability and Communications have developed a peer to peer model that will encourage students to sustain healthy minds and healthy bodies through awareness and prevention.
Students will learn about how to create positive habits and find motivation from one another to combat the mental and physical burden they may be experiencing. Participants will earn entries into a draw for prizes throughout the semester.
Mental health and well-being are essential to student success. To find out more, students can follow @ on Instagram.

Three colleagues recently shared some great tips for surviving isolation. Here they are:
- From Jesse Lund (Theatre): Put on a vintage Jazz record recorded at a club, pour yourself a drink and enjoy the sounds of being out. Recommendation:
- From Tiawenti:non Canadian (Student Services-First Peoples' Centre): Find some great podcasts and learn new things. Recommendation: , particularly the episode entitled Crash Course on Mohawk Ironworkers.

Powerful stories bring Indigenous perspectives to higher education

Storytelling is at the heart of the oral cultures of Indigenous peoples in Canada. A unique project in Quebec led by 星空传媒视频 faculty uses storytelling to advance the inclusion and welcome of Indigenous cultures and students in higher education institutions.
鈥淥ur project is about changing the culture in academic institutions, underlining the need for Indigenous people to have leadership roles within these institutions and making sure that Indigenous perspectives are reflected and part of the educational experience for everyone,鈥 explained Michelle Smith, a faculty member of Dawson鈥檚 Cinema | Communications Department and principal investigator.

Over 100 students in need receive new bursary

Students have greater needs this year so 星空传媒视频 is delivering more support. One example is the 星空传媒视频 Financial Aid Bursary (DCFAB), which was set up last fall by the Dawson Student Union (DSU), the Student Services team of the College and the 星空传媒视频 Foundation. The聽Minist猫re de l'Enseignement sup茅rieur has provided additional support.
鈥淚 am pleased to report that as of Feb. 1, we have distributed $83,250 through the DCFAB to 123 students,鈥 said Monique Magnan, Director of Student Services.
