Dear Joe Rose: a Dawson love story

The Dear Joe Rose project started with a rose tattoo in 2011. A student of Kim Simard鈥檚 showed her his tattoo and shared the story of . He was working to get a plaque installed in the Conrod鈥檚 student space at Dawson in honour and memory of Joe. This plaque was installed in 2013.

Filiations at WGF Gallery until March 11

Filiations听features new work by Nadia Myre (Kitigan Zibi), and Nico Williams (Aamjiwnaang), both acclaimed artists who are linked by their former teacher-student relationship (Myre supervised Williams鈥 MFA work at Concordia University). This exhibition will draw out lines of affiliation and commitment in their practices providing an unparalleled opportunity to see two generations of artists staking out common ground 鈥 pedagogically, aesthetically, and politically. A duo exhibition featuring new work by Anishnaabe artists Nadia Myre (Kitigan Zibi Anishnabeg) and Nico Williams of Aamjiwnaang. It will draw out links of pedagogy and exchange between student and teacher鈥 two generations of artists staking out common ground.
The exhibition takes place from Feb.听2 鈥 Mar.听11, the vernissage will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m.

Pareidolia is the ability to see or make pictures out of randomness. Seeing beyond what the average person sees and expressing that vision in an image is a large part of training to be a photographer. This collection of work by Dawson鈥檚 third-year photography students embodies how they see people, places or objects in their world.
Twenty-two Dawson students will be showcasing their work at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery from Dec. 9-15, their vernissage will be held on Dec. 8 from 6-9 p.m.
Art Gallery Exhibit: Biennial 15

Biennial 15 marks 30 years of Dawson Fine Arts Faculty members exhibiting their current artworks at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery. It continues this long tradition of investigating the relationship between art making and learning, as well as reflects on the history of the biennial.
All faculty鈥攑ast and present鈥攐f the Fine Arts department will have images and texts in the catalogue, which accompanies the exhibition. There will also be a sound component containing faculty responses to the question of how the biennial has played a role in the pedagogical innovations of Dawson鈥檚 reputed Fine Arts Department.

The Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery (near the de Maisonneuve entrance) is pleased to present the work of Ottawa-based artist Anna Williams. This is the first Montreal exhibition of Williams, who has created technically and conceptually complex prints and bronze sculptures, which reinterpret female roles, gender conformity and attitudes towards nature in classical Greek myths.

Florence Yee: Sharp Tools for Unripe Fruit

Florence Yee is a visual artist, Dawson Alum, and serial collaborator based in Tkaronto/Toronto and Tiohti脿:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. Their exhibition听Sharp Tools for Unripe Fruit听features photographs on fabric and hand-embroidered text, now on view at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery until April 14.
