Performa summer 2024 offerings

ĐÇżŐ´«Ă˝ĘÓƵ offers support for current teachers and educational professionals to engage in the accredited professional development program for college teachers from University of Sherbrooke. The Performa program encourages continuous learning directly relevant to teachers and professionals roles, taught by CĂ©gep teachers and professionals.

The courses are held online and in blended learning format.

The deadline to register if you are new to Performa programs, program or independent study admission will be March 15. Contact Azra Khan, Pedagogical Counsellor, HR for more information.


Performa info sessions in February for professionals & faculty

Information sessions on the Performa professional development programs for teachers and professionals are taking place throughout the month of February Training programs are offered in both English and French.

Free French course registration extended to Jan. 30

Professionals and support staff members are invited to register for free French courses through Dawson’s Centre for Training and Development.  The deadline to register has been extended to Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 12 PM.

Performa non-credit courses for teachers

Save the date for Intercollegiate Ped Days

Intercollegiate Ped Days will be online January 9-10, 2024.

The theme is Shifting Landscapes: Shared Practices in a Changing CEGEP System.

The introduction of Bill 96 (Law 14), undertaking multiple large program revisions, and witnessing a tectonic shift in teaching and learning due to a surge in generative AI - This year's theme crosses disciplinary boundaries to explore what it means to embrace and enact meaningful transformation in the English-language CEGEP system.

Keynote presenter Ollivier Dyens is full professor in the Département des littératures de langue française, de traduction et de création at McGill. He examines the impact of technology on humanity and has authored 14 books. He was previously Deputy Provost, Student Life and Learning at McGill.

Indigenous youth share postcard series at Ped Day

One of the workshops at Dawson’s 2023 Ped Day on Oct. 13 was Indigenous Youth Perspectives: Community Care and Practical Strategies, Bettering the Student Experience.

Two young people who are part of the presented a , one of the tools they have created to express themselves and to get people thinking and discussing.

This group has been meeting online and in person for a few years. Sébastien Lamarre-Tellier, a medical student at McGill University, is Innu and a member of the network’s youth advisory committee. Sebastien told that they have been “coming together to share our cultures, be visible and make some noise to show that our cultures are alive and growing.”

The postcard that stood out for many at Dawson was one with an image of two people in a canoe at the centre. The centre is bright and focused on Nature with positive words emphasized. The city and negative elements are there but in the background.

Sébastien said that young Indigenous people “need to express ourselves.” He also said they are looking for a guide in a teacher, someone “to walk in the forest with them.” The image of the canoe has the elder or the teacher in the back helping to steer.

Autonomisation enseignante grâce à l’élaboration et l’appropriation d’une approche réflexive et métacognitive de l’inclusion au collégial

Le mercredi 1er novembre à midi, rejoignez-nous pour une présentation des résultats d’une recherche portant sur l’adoption d’une posture réflexive et métacognitive en matière d’inclusion de la diversité en enseignement collégial. Grâce à une méthodologie basée sur la recherche-action collaborative réunissant des membres étudiants, enseignants, professionnels de quatre cégeps, l’équipe de projet a élaboré et expérimenté une démarche permettant à une personne enseignante de développer le réflexe de se questionner sur son propre rapport à la diversité et à son inclusion. Appuyée sur une vision concertée du rôle de l’enseignant ou de l’enseignante inclusive, l’équipe présentera les résultats obtenus et des avenues afin de les intégrer dans les pratiques et de les mettre à profit dans les établissements collégiaux.
