In memoriam Michel Pilon

The Dawson AEC Commercial Photography Facebook page shared the sad news about retired faculty member Michel Pilon on March 24:
"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michel Pilon, a beloved former teacher in the AEC photography department. Michel was a passionate commercial photographer and an advocate for professional photographer鈥檚 usage rights. His contagious passion and love of photography and personable nature made him one of our finest teachers. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. Thank you Michel."
Michel taught photography at Dawson from 2008 until he retired in 2017.
In memoriam Judy De Four

We are saddened to announce the recent and sudden passing of Judy De Four at the age of 74. She was a great friend and mentor to many in her nearly five decades of service to 星空传媒视频.
Judy began her Dawson career in 1975. She worked in Facilities Management before moving to Continuing Education & Community Services. In 2021, Judy retired from her job in the AEC Office.

Change at the helm of the Dawson Foundation

Earlier in February, Steve Hatajlo (Class of 1981, Computer Science) handed over the presidency of the 星空传媒视频 Foundation to Sean Smith (Class of 2001, Pure and Applied Science). Steve has served as a volunteer on both the Dawson Foundation Board of Directors and Dawson鈥檚 Board of Governors for many years. He remains a member of both boards.

Pierre Lefebvre is new Coordinator of Auxiliary Services

Pierre Lefebvre joined Dawson Feb. 12 as the new Coordinator of Auxiliary Services. He is responsible for several departments: the Bookstore, the Print Shop, Security, Parking, P.A.R.C. (Physical Education and Recreational Centre), and, last but not least, Purchasing.
鈥淧ierre is a great asset to the department,鈥 said Samuel V. Saint-Hilaire, Director of Facilities Management. 鈥淒uring our brainstorming sessions, Pierre contributes by sharing his experience and suggesting proven solutions. We are all eager to learn more from Pierre and to collaborate with him. Welcome, Pierre!鈥
Pierre has nearly 35 years of management experience in various sectors. A member of the Ordre des Administrateurs Agr茅es du Qu茅bec, he holds a number of national certifications and a Canadian Armed Forces Naval Officer's Certificate. Over the years, he has received various civilian and military awards, including the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation and the Queen's Medal for Volunteers. He is a member of the Venerable Order of St. John.
Over the course of his career, Pierre has held various management positions in educational institutions such as Coll猫ge de Maisonneuve, C茅gep du Vieux-Montr茅al and the Universit茅 de Sherbrooke Longueuil campus, as well as in the healthcare network and in the private and municipal sectors. He also specializes in the organization of ceremonial events.
He is very involved in his community and with young people, serving on boards of directors and lecturing on military and naval history. An artist at heart, his hobbies include painting and making architectural and ship models.

Luc St-Germain is Coordinator of Building Maintenance

Luc St-Germain joined Dawson as Coordinator of Building Maintenance in November. He succeeds V茅ronique Paris on the Facilities Management team.
鈥淚 have worked for 30 years in downtown Montreal in various buildings in the private sector. I鈥檓 pleased to now bring my experience to the public education sector,鈥 Luc said.
鈥淏eing around students and part of Dawson鈥檚 dynamic community makes me feel like I鈥檓 18 years old again, which is great!鈥 Luc said.
In his role at Dawson, Luc is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of聽 heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. He also manages and supervises the various maintenance contracts. Lastly, Luc is the point person for emergencies, such as power failure, flooding or major disruption to operations.
He holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Industrial Relations from Universit茅 de Montr茅al and graduated from C茅gep du Vieux-Montr茅al in Metallurgy Technology (Welding option).

Mitchell Rae Yang is the new Director of the Dawson Foundation

The 星空传媒视频 Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitchell Rae Yang as Director.聽 Mitchell鈥檚 first day at Dawson will be Wednesday, November 1.

Nadine Paree is new manager of Admissions & Records

Nadine Paree joined Dawson as Manager of Admissions and Records on May 8. She replaces Laura Paterson, who has retired.
Nadine is a former Dawson student who remembers spending many hours in the TV production studio during her time in Creative Arts. Her studies also include Human Resources Management at McGill University. Most recently, Nadine worked as School Organization Technician at Villa Maria College.
鈥淲e are delighted to have Nadine as a new addition to the Academic Systems team,鈥 says Julie Brosseau, Associate Dean of Academic Systems. 鈥淏ig shoes to fill, but we are confident that she will be able to make her way and manage with brio the team of Admission and Records.鈥
