Dawson Science Students Visit The NRC & TSB In Ottawa

During the March break, 33 students from the Science and the Enriched Science Program spent a day visiting labs and research facilities at the National Research Council (NRC) and the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) in Ottawa.
Separated into three groups, students were given tours of 12 different facilities where they learned about world-class research and engineering in fields such as ocean & coastal research, flight research, metrology, nanotechnology, photonics, printable electronics, human therapeutics, and advanced non-linear optical imaging and spectroscopy. The trip was organized by Chris Whittaker (Physics) and students were accompanied by Carmen Leung (Chemistry) and Jean-Fran莽ois Bri猫re (Physics). Funds for the trip came from students and the Student Success Action Plan fund.

Dawson's Sustainability Office and other departments are excited to host a two-week Earth Week event. Students and employees can participate in multiple events from April 17-April 28.

Tickets now on sale for Artists in Bloom!

The 25th annual Artists in Bloom art auction will be taking place on Thursday, April 20 in 3C.1 with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and painting beginning at 6 p.m. The money raised this year will be going to Dawson鈥檚 Living Campus/Sustainability.
We are returning to the live event that you all have come to know and love. There will also be an online component (link to be available starting April 11) where you can purchase your ticket for the event as well as prints designed by Illustration students.
Printed tickets can now be purchased in the following locations: 4A.1 (cash only) and 2E.6 (cash or card).
We will also be in the Upper Atrium (in front of escalators) from April 11-14 and 17-19 for tickets and/or prints.

Dawson community mobilizing to identify 1,000 species in 1,000 days

All students and employees at 星空传媒视频 are invited to join an initiative to identify 1,000 species in 1,000 days on Dawson鈥檚 downtown Montreal campus.
鈥淲e believe that identifying 1,000 species is possible but does pose a significant challenge,鈥 said Brian Mader, project lead and a biology teacher at Dawson. 鈥淲e invite all students and employees to join . The more people from our community who participate, the higher the chances of reaching our goal. This project will also nurture our Dawson community and encourage people to go outside and enjoy Nature.鈥

Interview with screenwriter & Dawson grad Ryan Christopher Churchill

Ryan Christopher Churchill (Creative Arts, 1999) is the screenwriter of Simulant, a science fiction thriller that will be released in Canada on April 7.
Simulant tells the story of a humanoid A.I.'s attempt to win over a widow's heart, which places it in the path of a government agent trying to stop the rise of machine consciousness. The film stars some of the most popular actors right now: Simu Liu, Sam Worthington, Jordana Brewster and Robbie Amell.聽The trailer can be viewed .
