AI and Writing: Rethinking Writing in the Age of AI (virtual event)
March 9 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In the dawn of accessible AI-generated writing, we are forced to go back to the basics and ask ourselves: What is writing? Why do we ask our students to write? How is writing related to critical thinking?

This informal session will give participants an opportunity to reflect on their own relationships to writing and share ideas on how we might foster a love for the writing process in our students. This conversation is the first in a series on the topic of AI and writing in the college classroom.

This conversation will be hosted by the community of practice members Jeff Gandell (WID), Daniel Goldsmith (DALC), Robert Stephens (AI) & Brian Redekopp (AI).

New Faculty Orientation is March 14

The next New Faculty Orientation will be held in person on March 14 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in room 3F.37.

Dawson鈥檚 New Faculty Orientation is designed to introduce new faculty to information about college services and procedures, teaching at the college level, and tips for engaging students.

The orientation includes asynchronous and synchronous components:

Welcome from the Deans and Directors of Dawson
鈥 Competency based education and the program approach
鈥 Academic integrity at Dawson
鈥 Faculty deadlines
鈥 Faculty roles and responsibilities
鈥 Classroom scenarios and discussion
鈥 Professional development opportunities

This event is open to all new Day and Continuing Education faculty with a Winter 2023 workload.


CCDMD call for projects deadline is March 3

The聽Centre coll茅gial de d茅veloppement de mat茅riel didactique (CCDMD)聽produces printed, digital and online materials for teaching staff and students throughout the Qu茅bec college system. Its mandate is both to ensure that students in the system have access to quality educational materials in both French and English, and to contribute to the development of these materials at the various stages of production.

Those wishing to submit a proposal for the creation, adaptation and translation of digital or print educational resource that is suitable to the context in Qu茅bec may do so during the Call for Projects open until March 3. Consult the聽Call for聽Projects聽Guide聽and complete the聽Project Presentation Form聽in the聽听蝉别肠迟颈辞苍.

All projects must be presented by a teacher from a public or private CEGEP in Qu茅bec or an external specialist in the discipline supported by an academic dean.
