Faculty Hub supported teachers in pandemic emergency

On March 11, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. Two days later, classes ended for spring break and ǿմýƵ closed for what turned out to be the rest of the semester. Teachers and the newly launched Faculty Hub were plunged into an education emergency: completing the semester for about 9,000 students.

In April 2019, the Board of Governors of ǿմýƵ approved DawsonAI Initiative:  an ambitious, multi-faceted three-year strategic effort to better prepare our students for a future which will be increasingly shaped by new technologies such as Machine Learning, the Internet of Things, and Big Data. Ian MacKenzie wins SALTISE award

May 19th, 2020

Ian MacKenzie (English) was honoured with the 2020 SALTISE Best Practice & Pedagogical Innovators Award. Ian was nominated for his work as founder and director of Dawson’s Writing in the Disciplines (WID). Ian has inspired, guided and supported faculty across 28 different departments, and has been a leader within the Learning Communities at ǿմýƵ. The award is given annually at the SALTISE conference. There will be a feature about Ian and this great achievement coming soon on the ǿմýƵ website and in D News.

SALTISE will acknowledge Ian and the other awardees within the pages of a Conference Program/Proceedings. SALTISE will distribute this souvenir publication. If you are not already on the SALTISE newsletter mailing list, send an email.
