Performa summer 2024 offerings

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ offers support for current teachers and educational professionals to engage in the accredited professional development program for college teachers from University of Sherbrooke. The Performa program encourages continuous learning directly relevant to teachers and professionals roles, taught by Cégep teachers and professionals.

The courses are held online and in blended learning format.
The deadline to register if you are new to Performa programs, program or independent study admission will be March 15. Contact Azra Khan, Pedagogical Counsellor, HR for more information.

The next orientation for new faculty will be held on March 21, from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM.
Dawson’s New Faculty Orientation is designed to introduce new faculty to information about college services and procedures, teaching at the college-level, and tips for engaging students.
The orientation includes asynchronous and synchronous components:
- Welcome from the Deans and Directors of Dawson
- Competency based education and the program approach
- Academic integrity at Dawson
- Faculty deadlines
- Faculty roles and responsibilities
- Classroom scenarios and discussion
- Professional development opportunities
This event is open to all new Day and Continuing Education faculty with a Winter 2024 workload.
Social Science Week is Feb. 12-16

Social Science Week is next week! There is a diverse array of speakers and topics to interest everyone at Dawson’s Social Science Week 2024, from Monday, Feb. 12 through Friday, Feb. 16. All events are taking place in 5B.16 at Dawson and every day concludes with a Cinema Politica film screening at 6:30 PM.

Join Tiio Hemlock, Pedagogical Counsellor from the Office of Academic Development (OAD), for a viewing of an episode from the PBS documentary Native America.Ìý This documentary explores and contradicts Historian George Bancroft’s claim that before Europeans arrived, North America was “an unproductive waste. Its only inhabitants were a few scattered tribes of feeble barbarians, destitute of commerce and political connection.â€
A discussion will follow.

To celebrate , members from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) were in Ottawa this week to speak with MPs, senators and their staff about the MRT profession and the need for federal investments and leadership to help address the MRT workforce challenges throughout Canada at CAMRT's Hill Day.
