Coffee & Zero Waste Kitchen Workshops
September 11th, 2024
The Office of Sustainability will host Coffee & Zero Waste Kitchen Workshops on every second Monday, beginning Sept. 16. We will offer free coffee from 10 AM – 12 PM as well as a workshop in Conrod's kitchen. Bring your own mug or cup, we will supply the coffee!
The first workshop hosted by Diana Rice will be: "Teas, Spices & More! The many uses of your indoor or garden herbs!" We will talk about drying herbs and flowers, and all the different things you can do with them to reduce your kitchen and garden waste! Everyone will get to bring home something to dry and use at home after the workshop. To reserve your spot please click on the form:
We will hold seven sessions, Sept. 16, Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 11, Nov 25, and Dec 9. Should you be interested in hosting one of these workshops, we have two available spots for anyone interested in sharing their knowledge with the community that helps reduce waste and shows how we can individually contribute to climate action!

Express Yourself: The Arts and Humanities Alive at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ!

Every year the Humanities Department at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ hosts the Humanities & Public Life Conference. This year, the conference is slated for the week of Oct. 21 and the theme will be aesthetics: theories of art, beauty, and performance.
Express Yourself: ÌýThe Arts and Humanities Alive at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ! will feature discussions and performances, in addition to highlighting the creative work of students. We are excited and proud to feature a conference that will unite the disciplines of the college and showcase the creativity of our faculty and students.
We can look forward to performances and talks about flamenco dancing, tango dancing, blues dancing, Restoration period vocal performance and Celtic music. Artists will elaborate on the ‘philosophy’ behind their work and performances.
We will also feature talks about the visual arts and poetry. For example. groundbreaking research on Montreal’s black visual artists pre-internet will be shared by eminent scholars in art history. ÌýMost talks will be interactive, giving audience members a chance to participate in the concepts and ideas being presented. Bring your dancing shoes and notepads! More details to come soon.

Our special guest speaker is Sandra Mouafo Nouadje. She is a queer second- generation Franco-Cameroonian immigrant, writer, community organizer, and the Executive Director for Project 10, a non-for-profit and registered charity supporting 2LGBTQ+ youth between 14-25 years of age.
It means a great deal for the students to celebrate with their friends and teachers.
Multicultural fundraising event by Social Service students May 24

Third-year Social Service students are hard at work organizing a community intervention project called Refugee Awareness for Change.
They have partnered with the Welcome Collective and have organized a multicultural fundraising event. Welcome Collective is an organization whose core mission is to mobilize Montreal’s local community to provide immediate help to the city’s most precarious refugee claimants.

The Interior Design 2024 Vernissage is Thursday, June 6 from 5 PM to 9 PM in 3C.1. The exhibition continues on Friday, June 7 from 9 AM to 4 PM in 3C.1.
Illustration Vernissage is May 29

Join us at the Illustration 2024 Vernissage, an exciting showcase of 36 emerging illustrators who have honed their skills and artistic voices over the past three years. It will be held on May 29th in 3C.1 from 5:30-10PM. This year’s event, inspired by the imaginative artwork of student Juliette Lafleur-Loughrey, transports us to a whimsical world where animal and popcorn-like stylish creatures vividly represent diversity and community.
This event is open to the public and the Exhibition will continue on May 30th from 12:- 9:00 p.m and May 31st from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. The theme of inclusivity and imagination is brought to life not only through the artwork but also through the design of the event space, including engaging signage and interactive displays.
This vernissage is not only a celebration of our students’ artistic achievements but also an homage to the careers of Pauline Fresco and Meinert Hansen, two esteemed faculty members who are retiring after years of dedication and inspiration. This event also marks their last semester, making it a particularly poignant moment for us all.
3D Animation and CGI Vernissage June 5-6

Students will showcase short thesis films completed during the final year of 3D Animation and CGI. Screenings take place in the Dawson Theatre (June 5 at 7 PM and June 6 at 3 PM 5 PM, 7 PM and 9 PM) and an exhibition ofÌýart boards and showreels will be set up in 5E.16, which will also have catering. Students have been working night and day, on their own and in teams, to plan all aspects of the event while also preparing to show off their amazing talents and skills.
