Dawson students start babysitting service for those in need

ǿմýƵ student Tristan Hamer has created a volunteer movement of young people in high school and CEGEP to provide free or pay what you can babysitting services for people in need of childcare during the school shutdown. First Int’l Math Day celebrated last Thursday

March 17th, 2020

The first International Day of Mathematics (March 14) was celebrated at Dawson on Thursday.

Andreea Panait of Dawson's Mathematics Department reported: "We started the day with some wonders in Mathematics, then we moved to the history of Calculus and we ended with some applied math in creating interesting apps. To complete the day, we gave prizes for the math poster contest."

Students Sara Boubekri (pictured with Andreea) and Zaina Mahran were the winners.


50 years of Women’s Studies

Greta Hofmann Nemiroff, a pioneer in Women's Studies in Canada and at ǿմýƵ, was here March 6 for a panel discussion moderated by Pat Romano about Women's Studies. The other panelists were Shree Mulay (Memorial University) and Alanna Thain (McGill University). Dawson hosting RSEQ Div. 1 Basketball Provincials March 7-8

Go Dawson Blues! Dawson is hosting the Div. 1 provincial basketball championships this coming weekend. The Women’s Team will be playing for a spot to represent the RSEQ at the CCAA Nationals on Saturday, March 7 at 12 p.m. The Men’s Team will play in a ¼ final game on March 3.
