30,000 trees being planted to offset Dawson’s carbon footprint

The Board of Governors of ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ made the bold commitment to be Carbon Neutral Forever in October 2018. Now, that promise is being implemented with the planting of 30,000 trees this spring and summer.

Teachers saving the semester

For the past two weeks, many teachers have become students learning all about online teaching platforms. They have also been working hard to adapt course outlines and figure out how to present their material online while maintaining academic integrity and continuing to engage their students.

Live COVID-19 graph focused on Quebec developed by Dawson teachers

Jonathon Sumner (Physics) started working on a live interactive graph project with the idea of showing the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in different parts of the world, while normalizing for population size, as well as showing the impact of interventions like physical distancing.

Our Loran Scholar Margaux Roncière (a ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ student in her last year of Pure and Applied Science) was interviewed on CBC Radio's afternoon program Let's Go on March 16. The Loran is Canada's largest undergraduate scholarship.

Working on solutions and processing applications

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ is working on solutions to salvage the semester and applications are being processed as usual.

As of March 23, the Admissions Team had sent out 4,700 offers of admission.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ shared this news with our employees first and then with select media on March 20. CJAD 800 AM interviewed Director General Richard Filion during the Andrew Carter Morning Show March 23.

Doubly proud of our Blues!

Two Dawson Blues Division 1 Basketball players, Taisha Exanor and Mackenzie Ash-Smith, have made history! On March 18, the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced that Taisha and Mackenzie are recognized as 2020 CCAA Women’s Basketball All-Canadians.

The student-athletes are selected by their conference based on performance and contribution to the sport and their team. Dawson's conference is the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ and our players were chosen by the RSEQ league coaches.

It is the first time since 1986 that two Blues were named All-Canadians, and it is the first-time since 2008 that an RSEQ team has two.
