Congrats to the Class of 2020!

Another 2,600 graduates joined the big family of ǿմýƵ alumni over the summer.
In the coming weeks, they will all receive a special grad package in the mail. The College made a special Virtual Commencement Speech video addressed to the Class of 2020 and held an intimate Awards Ceremony Aug. 12.

Next Tuesday, June 16 at 6 p.m., Andrew Katz (English Department) will be virtually launching his second picture book, I JUST WANT TO BE SUPER! / JE SUIS SUPER NINO! illustrated by Dawson Illustration graduate Tony Luzano (2014).The story is about a young kid with TONS of energy. Vernissage Season is going digital June 3-18

Nick Ladd, a graduate of both Illustration and 3D Animation and Computer-Generated Imagery, came to the rescue of Vernissage Season with a customized platform that his company Studio Syro has built for ǿմýƵ.
Six programs in the Creative and Applied Arts will be hosting vernissage events from June 3-18. First up is Illustration on June 3.

Diagnostic Imaging students graduated early and now working on COVID frontlines

CRLT student Kathleen Collins awarded Lieutenant Governor Youth Medal

“A perfect volunteer” was a key phrase used in the nomination of Kathleen Collins for the Lieutenant Governor Youth Medal, awarded by Quebec’s Lieutenant Governor to students who “demonstrate a sustained voluntary action at the community and social levels.”

Over 40 Nursing students complete program early

On April 17, over 40 members of the Class of 2020 ǿմýƵ Nursing Program completed their program. This was about two weeks ahead of schedule to allow the new graduates to contribute to the healthcare system now.

Steven Pinker lends his support to COVID-19 Student Fund
April 21st, 2020
Eminent Harvard professor, world-renowned psychologist and author Steven Pinker (Class of 1973) is supporting Dawson's efforts to raise funds for students in need. An estimated 1,700 Dawson students may be having trouble covering food and rent expenses.
Dr. Pinker sent this quote to ǿմýƵ last week:
"For more than fifty years, Dawson has been educating people from all parts of society to make contributions to all walks of life. As a proud alumnus, I encourage you all to support this generation of Dawson students, who on top of all the challenges of college are facing additional hardships in this unprecedented crisis."
To date, thanks to your contributions and donations from friends and alumni, ǿմýƵ has raised just shy of $2,000, with more expected soon.
