There is an open call for Student Academic Growth and Enrichment (SAGE) project proposals funded by the Student Academic Enrichment Fund of the Dawson Foundation. Staff and current students are eligible to apply. Applications for projects beginning in the Fall 2024 semester are currently open and will close on Monday, April 29.

North South Soirée April 25

Calling all 1998 to 2023 alumni, current and future students, present and retired teachers, and all friends of our profile. You are invited to this big community celebration and solidarity fundraiser! The event will take place in 5B.16 at Dawson on Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
This year’s program will include:
- Celebration of the final North South Studies graduating class
- Launch of the Social Change & Solidarity local partnerships
- Retirement celebration for Mary Ann Farkas
- Alumni through the decades panel
- Student presentation of their field trip to Cuba
- Cuban appetizers, cocktails, and mocktails
- Art exhibit and swag (NSS and SCS tote bags!)
- Solidarity photo booth
- Music and dancing!!
All proceeds will go to support Social Change & Solidarity activities – including the 2024-2025 Field Trip to Cuba, and the profile’s new local social justice partnerships.

Get your tickets for Artists in Bloom on campus or online

The annual and very enjoyable evening of art fundraiser Artists in Bloom is happening next Thursday, April 18.
Tickets for adults are only $20 in advance and can be purchased every day until April 17, except Saturday and Sunday, on campus in the Upper Atrium from 12 PM to 2 PM or in 4A.1 and 2E.4 from 9 AM to 5 PM. They can also be purchased online . Kids 10 years old and younger are FREE. Student ticket price is $15.
Buy your tickets ahead of the event as the price at the door is $25.
Postcard prints are also available for sale at the ticket table in the Upper Atrium. They are $5 each or 10 for $35.
Your ticket includes one complimentary drink/wine/beer and hors d’oeuvres. This is a great opportunity to enjoy an inexpensive night out while raising funds for our student athletes.
The event takes place in Room 3C.1 and doors open at 5:30 PM. Students in 3D Animation and CGI, Illustration, and Visual Arts will be creating works of art live, which will be auctioned off by Donna Saker of The Beat 92.5. Dawson students Lawrence He and Seungbi Yoo will be performing live music.

The Dawson Golf Classic, presented by the Montreal Forum, is back for its 17th Annual Golf Tournament at the historic Whitlock Golf and Country Club on June 10, 2024. We are excited to invite you to register and be a part of this event that supports our students.
Hosted by the Dawson Foundation, the tournament aims to raise funds directly benefiting students in their academic endeavours. In today's challenging economic climate, where inflation impacts every sector, student support is more crucial than ever. Last year’s tournament exceeded expectations, raising over $100,000, and this year we plan to surpass our own benchmark with a record-breaking goal of $150,000.
Admission includes brunch, access to the driving range, 18 holes of golf, cocktail reception with special guests and dinner. If golf isn't your game, but you still want to participate, join us for dinner and take part in our silent auction!

There is an open call for Student Academic Growth and Enrichment (SAGE) project proposals funded by the Student Academic Enrichment Fund of the Dawson Foundation. Staff and current students are eligible to apply. Applications for projects beginning in the Fall 2024 semester will open on Tuesday, April 2 and close on Monday, April 29.
A total of $40,000 is available for projects commencing in the Fall 2024 semester and applicants can request up to $5,000.
A webinar will be offered for students and staff to better understand the application process and to provide an opportunity to ask questions. Date and details will be posted on the page linked below, which also has more information and the application form.

Honourable mentions for Dawson students at Harvard’s Model UN

Thirty-six ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ students travelled to Boston in mid-February to participate in Harvard National Model United Nations. The conference, one of the world's longest-running and most prestigious UN simulations, brought together over 1,200 college and university students from over 30 countries.

Change at the helm of the Dawson Foundation

Earlier in February, Steve Hatajlo (Class of 1981, Computer Science) handed over the presidency of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ Foundation to Sean Smith (Class of 2001, Pure and Applied Science). Steve has served as a volunteer on both the Dawson Foundation Board of Directors and Dawson’s Board of Governors for many years. He remains a member of both boards.
