Graduation date is June 25
February 7th, 2024
Exceptionally this year, Dawson graduation ceremonies will be held after Saint Jean on Tuesday, June 25. The later date is because the grade deadline is exceptionally later this semester. Time is required to confirm students have in fact graduated.
The good news is that Dawson has secured the 2,996-seat Salle Wilfred Pelletier at Place des Arts so there will be enough space to host two ceremonies instead of three.
Dawson students surveyed on CEGEP perceptions
January 23rd, 2024
At the end of September, 900 Dawson students took part in a survey conducted by L茅ger Marketing for the F茅d茅ration des c茅geps du Qu茅bec. Students across Quebec aged 17-24 were asked a series of questions about their perceptions of CEGEP. The results for Dawson were shared with the Communications Office before the holiday break.
Some of the things Dawson鈥檚 Head of Communications Megan Ainscow found interesting:
- The top reason that students chose Dawson was because they have heard favourable things about it (67%)
- 84% of students say they are satisfied with their program
- 75% of students do not wish to have courses at night and 90% do not wish to have courses on weekends
- 88% of students say it suits them to study in person, and 57% of students say distance learning does not suit them
Members of the Dawson community who are interested in reading all the results (and are signed in to Microsoft 365) can check out the survey data .

Crowds of prospective students at Open House
October 25th, 2023
Dawson鈥檚 Open House was Oct. 22 and thousands of prospective students and their families took us up on the invitation.
Sunday was a record crowd, according to organizer Carey-Ann Pawsey of the Communications Office and Geoff Kloos of Student Services, two staff members who have more than two decades of Dawson Open House experience.
The last time the College opened up without appointments was in 2019. That year, 14,000 Viewbooks were distributed. To be more sustainable, guests were invited to see the Viewbook online.
In the morning, guests arrived for tours and program experiences by appointment and in the afternoon, doors were open to all to come in and speak with teachers at program booths and ask questions to academic advisors. There were close to 2,000 people who went on student-guided tours, 700 at the Science info sessions and 300 at program experiences.聽 The Science webinar on Oct. 18 and the How to Apply webinar on Oct. 24 drew a total of 600 participants online.
鈥淚 would like to sincerely thank everyone who gave up their Sunday to welcome our future students and their parents to Dawson,鈥 said Megan Ainscow, Head of Communications. 鈥淲e have an amazing team of colleagues at Dawson who go above and beyond to make this event possible. We feel very grateful.鈥
The next Open House will be Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024.

Good times and happy reunions at first Homecoming
September 27th, 2023
鈥淚 met my best friend at Dawson and we came together.鈥
鈥淒awson made such an impact on me during my first years in Canada; I had to come.鈥
鈥淭here is just something special about the Dawson community and I had to come back and be part of it again.鈥
These were the sorts of comments we heard from graduates, retirees, employees and even current students who attended Dawson鈥檚 first-ever Homecoming on Sept. 23.
Special thanks to the Homecoming Organizing Committee, the staff who worked on a Saturday to make it happen, the teachers who hosted reunions and our event sponsors: the Burgundy Lion Group, Shaughnessy Caf茅 and Chartwells Canada.
