If you would like to do something enjoyable and meaningful this semester, please volunteer to serve on an award selection committee for this Fall 2021 semester. The time commitment is about two to three hours.

Dawson Blue, volunteer & activist Niice Gédéon receives Lieutenant Governor of Quebec’s Youth Medal

Maintaining high grades while playing for the Dawson Blues Division 1 women’s basketball team is an achievement that would make many students very proud. Dawson General Social Science student Niice Gédéon achieved that and much more and is now one of two Dawson students to be awarded the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec’s Youth Medal.

Hard-working student committed to social justice awarded Lieutenant Governor of Quebec’s Youth Medal

Within her first month of arriving at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ, Enriched Health Science student Sara Boubekri had become a class representative and was recruiting students to join her efforts to support education for girls in developing countries.

The Awards Office is now accepting nominations for the following awards:

The Bruno Mital ‘B’ Positive Scholarship – 1 recipient of $ 1,000

This scholarship is named after Bruno Mital, who was a graduate of the CRLT Program at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ and chairperson of the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ Board of Governors for two years. It is designed to recognize a graduating student who has gone above and beyond to help their community, their fellow students, or the Dawson community, without seeking recognition.

The Paul Gallagher Award – 3 recipients of $500

This award, named after ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ’s first Director General, is given to up to three graduating students in recognition of their significant contribution to student life. The most important criteria are leadership, contribution to College life, and participation in student government, sports or other College activities.

Please nominate through the My ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ (Omnivox) portal. Nomination deadline: March 9, 2021.

Governor General’s Medal recipient rowing her way to the top

December 1st, 2020

Catherine Chénier-Gagnon returned to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ on Nov. 24 to receive the Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze Medal. Academic Dean Diane Gauvin presented the medal to Catherine at an intimate and socially distanced ceremony witnessed by her parents and a few teachers.

Howlett family doubles Nursing award recipients during pandemic year

The Howlett family thought that Nursing students needed extra encouragement in the context of the pandemic. This semester, four future nurses from ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ were honoured and encouraged by receiving the Anne-Marie Howlett Memorial Award.

REMINDER: The Awards Office is accepting nominations for the David Oliver Award until Sept. 30.  If you know a second or third year student in good academic standing, who shows great promise in leadership, responsibility, and integrity within student activities, please nominate them through your under Student services> Awards, Bursaries & Scholarships.
