We are proud to celebrate our Fall 2021 Awards cohort of 35 exceptional ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ students. Unfold ALC Festival Fall 2021

December 1st, 2021

Unfold, the title and theme of this year’s Arts, Literature and Communication (ALC) Festival, presents creative works by students in the ALC program made in the first semester of in-person learning since March 2020. To unfold is to smooth surfaces, to disclose what is or has been hidden from view, to reveal secrets and potentials. Unfold celebrates the opening up and continuation of our lives as the pandemic starts to wane.

Some of the works in the festival reflect upon the changes undertaken in the last 18 months and speculate on changes still to come.  Others address how COVID has altered our customs of interaction with each other and the effects these transformations have had on our family life and friendships. All the works on view remind us that new ways of knowing and being are always unfolding.

Semaine des technologues at Dawson

November 17th, 2021

Last week, it was the Semaine des technologues en imagerie médicale, en radio-oncologie et en électrophysiologie médicale of the OTIMROEPMQ.

At Dawson, we are proud of our contribution to the Quebec healthcare system. Bravo to our hard-working teachers, students and graduates of the Diagnostic Imaging, Medical Ultrasound Technology and Radiation Oncology programs.

We celebrated them on our social media channels last week:

Our very first cohort of Medical Ultrasound Technology students marked the occasion by trying our brand new simulators for the first time!

Academic Dean: Opening the door to dialogue

November 3rd, 2021

I have had the opportunity to speak with some 20 faculty and staff in recent weeks at two meet-and-greets. These occasions have provided exciting and welcome opportunities to re-connect with the Dawson community. Before I go into further detail about these events, it might be useful to introduce myself, how I first came to Dawson…

Thank you Team Open House 2021

November 3rd, 2021

Dawson’s Open House 2021 was reimagined this year to help visitors experience the best version of the College and all it has to offer. We achieved record-breaking attendance by keeping the best elements of the first online Open House in 2020 and introducing new features and in-person tours for the first time since 2019.

Gone were the one-hour waits to have questions answered and navigating a hot, loud and crowded building. This year the maximum wait time for a question was not more than 2-3 minutes during the chat sessions for Open House on Oct. 24. Team Dawson Open House 2021 made sure the event was useful, smooth and pleasant for everyone.

Director General Diane Gauvin and Academic Dean Robert Cassidy would like to thank the more than 150 faculty members, current students and deans as well as managers, professionals and support staff from the Registrar's Office, the Communications Office, the Sustainability Office, Information Systems and Technology, Student Services, the Office of Academic Development and more.

Special thanks to Carey-Ann Pawsey, Jennifer de Vera, Lucy Segal, Ivana Bonaduce, Catherine Fusk, Marien Griffin, Dianne Hawryluck, Irene Kakoulakis, Antonina Nobile, Michele Pallett, Julie Pellegrino, Madalina Radu, Jane Valihora, Diane Wong, Carmela Gumelli, Julie Brosseau, Laura Paterson, Tommy Diamantakos, Maxwell Jones, Mylène Saucier, Dana Dragomir, Donna Varrica, Christina Parsons, Jonathan Perlman, Chris Georgieff, Pat Phutthavong, Virginia Law.

Gustave’s visit to Dawson

November 3rd, 2021

Gustave (pictured) attended Dawson for a year and a half with Susan Finch (Faculty, Psychology) in his quest to be a service dog. Some of Melanie Doyle's 401 students met Gustave before the pandemic and invited him to come back on Oct. 16 as part of their service project for the course in positive psychology.

"My group was overwhelmed by the participation and shut it down two hours early after almost 100 students had visited," Melanie said. The line-up of students waiting for some one-on-one dog therapy with Gustave was down the hallway, she reported.

New partnership with AI Launch Lab

is thrilled to announce a new partnership with . Dawson students have a chance to learn AI through this partnership.

AI Launch Lab organized a series of workshops where college students receive hands-on training and mentorship in AI topics. They are working on projects ranging from robotics to natural language processing and computer vision, to sustainability and development, and more.

DawsonAI received applications from 65 Dawson students. The first cohort began on Sept. 25.

There will be other opportunities for Dawson students in Winter and Summer 2022.

One of the goals is to explore ways of connecting this student enrichment experience with program curriculum across disciplines as the partnership evolves.
