2021 Virtual Field Trip to Cuba video

During the online learning period of the pandemic, teachers had to be very resourceful and adapt their plans.

Instead of actually going to Cuba in 2021, students in the North-South Studies Profile of Social Science took a virtual field trip to Cuba thanks to an imaginative work-around developed by North-South Studies faculty and partners in Cuba.

Petition to add Social Service to Bourses Perspective program

The Quebec Government has launched a new program called which are incentive scholarships for Québec students who are enrolled full-time in various programs at Québec CEGEPs, private colleges and universities. It is intended to increase the number of qualified individuals in the fields prioritized by the government due to a labour shortage in essential public services as well as in strategic economic sectors.

You have three more days to add your name to a petition calling on the government to add the Social Service Program.

We welcomed at least 80 classes to Social Science Week events last week, and every session had individual students in attendance as well, so there were roughly 3,000 participants overall. Resources from Intercollegiate Ped Days 2022

Thanks to Dawson colleagues who contributed to the success of Intercollegiate Ped Days  2022, which took place Jan. 12-14 online. More than 50 presentations were given and over 700 participants from the English-language CEGEPs attended. The theme was Systemic Transformation: Developing Our Inclusive Practices. Resources will be available for a limited time on the Linkr site: . The Linkr site is free but you need to request to join using your college email account. Social Science Week is Feb. 7-11

A new semester is upon us and Social Science Week 2022, to take place Feb. 7-11, is offering a stimulating week of talks and activities. Please review the line-up for the week in the program.

In light of the current situation, the conference will be online this year. 

  • If we have returned to in-person teaching, these talks will be streamed into your classroom and, wherever possible, we’ll set up two-way cameras to facilitate interaction between students and presenters.
  • If we are continuing with online teaching, students will be able to sign into these talks from wherever they are connecting.
