Plans for Orange Shirt Day leading up to Sept. 30

This fall, Dawson will host several events leading up to, and in observance of Sept. 30, Orange T-Shirt Day-National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
A dedicated team of students, faculty, professionals, and support staff, in consultation with Indigenous advisors, will organize these events with the goal of providing learning opportunities and raising awareness about decolonization and the importance of this day.
Support (resources, ideas, suggestions for speakers) is available for faculty who would like to include the theme of residential schools, the Truth and Reconciliation Report, or other decolonization topics in their course.听

Cathy Roy honoured with SALTISE Award for College Instructors

Since joining Dawson in 2015, Cathy Roy has sparked an excitement for new adventures in pedagogy, fostering greater collaboration and creativity within the Physiotherapy Technology Department.
Her ingenuity has won her a 2022 SALTISE Best Practices & Pedagogical Innovators Award, which she will receive at the 11th edition of the鈥疭ALTISE Conference鈥痮n June 2-3.
鈥淭here is no room for boredom or stagnation in teaching. No two days have felt the same since I started,鈥 said Cathy.

ALC Festival 2022 “Unfolds” until May 20

To unfold is to smooth surfaces, to disclose what is or has been hidden from view, revealing secrets and potentials.
The ALC Festival is a celebration and exhibition of projects by graduating students from the six profiles of the Arts, Literature and Communications Program. This year, the festival, happening May 5-20, presents the creative works that ALC students made back in March 2020, their first semester of in-person learning, and听celebrates the opening up and continuation of our lives as the pandemic starts to wane.
While most events have passed, you can still check out the innovative works of art from the Kaleidoscope and 贰苍肠丑补苍迟茅 exhibitions in the 5C hallways!

Students present neuroscience projects at 89th edition of ACFAS

Four teams of Dawson students from the Dawson Research in Neuroscience Group presented their research projects at the 89th edition of the ACFAS conference on May 9-10. In the May 9 colloquium, each team had three minutes to reveal their study, before answering questions by fellow researchers over Zoom. The May 10 colloquium gave 15 minutes for each presentation, with five minutes of questions.

Working with a team of faculty to revise a CEGEP program is an intense job that often takes one or two years to complete.
鈥淚鈥檓 like a doula,鈥 said Dawson Pedagogical Counsellor Monica Lopez in an interview with the Communications Office. 鈥淚 accompany the faculty through the revision process, with all the emotions it involves, and then I hand back their 鈥榖aby鈥 and step back.鈥
