ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ at the Montreal Bar 2016 Debate
Once again this year, ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ was represented at the Montreal Bar debate which took place Wednesday March 30. The Debate is an annual competition between CEGEPs where teams of 2 students debate an assigned topic. The topic at last week’s debate was prison for life with no possibility of parole. Teams prepare for perspectives for and against, and then must defend the point of view they are assigned at the debate.
Michelle Gervais and Julia Macdonald of the Social Science Law, Society and Justice and Psychology profiles attended and competed. However, this year, they were also representing the Dawson Debate Union (DDU). The DDU was established this year by the participants in last year’s Montreal Bar Debate: Réginald Labonté and Inès Vieux-Francoeur – who made sure that Michelle and Julia trained thoroughly both at Dawson and in competition for the debate. The Dawson Debate Union was also present at the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ Open House in January, showing once again how students active at Dawson are engaging both outside and inside the Dawson community.
