Recognition in our hearts this year

The month of June is usually a month of events, celebrations and milestones at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ.

On the second Friday in June, the multipurpose room (5B.16) gets a chic makeover for a very special evening we call Recognition of Service. The tables are set for a grand occasion with special place settings and spectacular centrepieces, a gourmet dinner is served, the wine flows, the music plays and everyone has a great time.

Our employees give a lot to the students and to the College and it is our way of marking the milestones of service in style.

At Recognition of Service, we celebrate all of you who reach the silver anniversary and those who have retired in the last year.

We celebrated our first golden anniversary of service at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ last year. This year we would have celebrated another one!

I want you to know that although the pandemic means we cannot gather this year, I raise my glass to you at home and wish you health and happiness. I also wish you to know that we miss you and look forward to seeing you all on campus on that happy day when we can all return.

Until then, Recognition of Service is in our hearts, especially this week when we would have celebrated together.

I want you to know that it is not cancelled. It is only postponed until next year, which will be big! We will have two years of retirees and two years of silver and golden anniversaries of service to celebrate.

I would encourage you to contact your colleagues who have recently retired and those who are marking milestones of service this year. Have a phone or zoom visit and see how they are doing. Reminisce about Dawson together. It will make you both feel good.

Cheers to you and your service to ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ÊÓƵ!

Warm regards,

Richard Filion
