Engaging All Our Students: The Basics of Universal Design of Learning
Today we live in a complex world, and we know that 鈥渙ne size fits all鈥� does not apply to learning.聽 We hear about class 鈥榓verages鈥� and 鈥榥orms鈥� and use them to make assumptions about how to teach our courses. Dawson鈥檚 own Universal Design of Learning Community of Practice invites faculty to explore inclusive pedagogy and deconstruct the myth of the 鈥榓verage鈥� student. Participants in this workshop will be given the opportunity to identify barriers to learning and explore pedagogical approaches for inclusive course design that contributes to learning for all students.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the principles of UDL
- Identify barriers to student learning
- Connect these concepts to their own teaching practices
