Dec. 19 deadline for Sustainable Happiness course for support staff & professionals
“Happiness that contributes to individual, community or global well-being and does not exploit other people, the environment, or future generations.” -Dr. Catherine O’Brien
Dawson students, support staff and external groups have participated in the peer-to-peer Sustainable Happiness educational experience since Winter 2020. The weekly sessions are developed with a goal of reconnecting people, community, and Nature.
The Sustainability Office and Human Resources will offer 24-hour Sustainable Happiness (SH) Certificates to support staff/professional employees during the Winter 2023 term. These sessions are led by employees who have completed their six-month Facilitator Training Program.
Participants in the certificate are introduced to the concept of sustainable happiness and explore its implications, both personally and professionally. This is an experiential and applied training. Key topics include sustainability, connecting with Nature, positive psychology, well-being, happiness, and healthy/sustainable lifestyles. All participants must complete a project which benefits the well-being of themselves, others and/or the environment to obtain the certificate.
Planning time for the projects will be allotted during the scheduled SH sessions. Dawson staff must have their manager’s approval to participate in the weekly sessions.
