English as a Second Language – Level 4 (Online)

Prerequisite: English as a Second Language—Level 3 or equivalent

Overall Goals:

  1. Provide students who already have an understanding of English basics and can deal effectively with familiar everyday situations, with the vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions necessary for communicating accurately and fluently in various contexts.
  2. Develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through various communicative activities focusing on travel, culture, and customs, as well as film, lifestyle, socializing, and personality traits.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Discuss food passions and lifestyle changes and make an excuse for declining food.
  • Discuss and compare personality traits.
  • Ask about and describe favourite cultural objects.
  • Discuss the impact of the internet.
  • Discuss ethical choices.
  • Give a written account of an interesting life experience.

  • Listening activities (listening for gist, for specific information, and for details)
